Group Classes

IMG_1882.jpeg

Smooth Sailing Ballroom has different group classes every month.

Group classes offer both the experience of dancing with different partners and a chance to become familiar with a variety of patterns.

Rotating partners will make you a stronger lead or follow. It also promotes comfort in dancing with others as well as the camaraderie that goes along with sharing a learned experience. However, switching partners is not required

If the mall is locked use the side door to enter the studio. If the side door is locked ring the doorbell on the right.

Dance Etiquette

Navigating the Dance Floor
Please be mindful of others and share the space.

Leaders: It is your responsibility to keep your eye on the floor traffic and use your peripheral vision to keep your dance partner away from others while moving down the line of dance. However, occasionally followers will need to warn their partner of an impending collision.

What to wear?
Dancing is a physical activity.  Wear comfortable clothing that will allow your body to move freely.
Dance shoes are always helpful but not required.

Policies

All individuals dance and otherwise use the Smooth Sailing Ballroom facilities at their own risk. All admissions and other fees are non-refundable. Smooth Sailing Ballroom is not liable for lost or stolen items or personal effects. Smooth Sailing Ballroom reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

Asking/Accepting/Declining a Dance We encourage everyone to dance with others. If someone accepts your offer to dance, extend your hand and begin leading by entering the dance floor. If you refuse a dance, please do so politely with a smile. Also remember that many couples come with their partners and only want to dance with them. If you are refused a dance, don’t take it personally.  There are plenty of other people to ask.
